Notes and Terms Relating to WEL's Line Charge Pricing Options:

The new line charges are effective from 1 April 2009 and are provided in the notice, pursuant to Requirement 27 of the Electricity Information Disclosure Requirements 2004.  Please note that as line charges are included in your electricity retailers invoice, the timing and method for passing through these line charges will be determined by your retailer.

The following conditions apply in respect of all Line Charges detailed in this Disclosure:

  1. The above prices are exclusive of GST.
  2. A month is defined as a calendar month.
  3. Peaktime Demand Periods are weekdays excluding public holidays from 0800-1100 & 1700-2100 hours.
  4. Winter is defined as the period from 1st May to 30th September (inclusive) and summer is defined as the period from 1st October to 30th April (inclusive).
  5. Additional transformer charges or rebates of 22c/kW for large customers may apply. Rebates are only applicable for customers who own their own transformer.
  6. A power factor worse than 0.95 will carry a surcharge.  This typically applies to large commercial and industrial customers and is charged at 2.39 c/kVArh.
  7. The Annual Discount will be credited in arrears to all consumers (defined as an ICP) on the traditional WEL Network annually, as at 31 March.  The discount will be based on the metered supply at that address from 1 April to 31 March of the immediately preceding year.  The discount will not be applied to ICPs that are: disconnected, at a vacant address or use unmetered load. 
  8. Line charges gazetted above apply to customer groups of more than 5.
