WEL Networks Capital Contribution Policy Changes 2021

News
27 Nov 2020

WEL Networks’ Capital Contribution Policy connection pricing and assessment criteria will change from 1 January 2021.

WEL’s Standard/Minimum charges have not been adjusted for over three years. Due to the increasing cost of facilitating connections, these charges are set to be increased.

Standard/Minimum Charges will increase from:

  • $2,200 to $2,400 for the first connection/lot on each application; and
  • $1,530 to $1,730 for each subsequent connection/lot on the same application.

Requests for connections greater than 110kVA will continue to be priced on application.

The Standard Charge criteria will change from: “Connection must be within close proximity to existing 11kV network” to “Connection must be within close proximity to existing 400V network”; and adds a specific exclusion for connections requiring a dedicated transformer.

Applications quoted prior to 1 January 2021 (at the existing rates) will remain valid for 90 days from the date of issue, with a further 90 days allowed for delivery of the connection.
