Systems vary depending on the size requested but a basic 2kW system costs around $9,995 installed, including GST. (* NB: prices are subject to change without notice.)
We suggest for a residential connection that you should aim to install a system that is less than 10kW as it will ensure that the process is standardised.
Panels perform best facing north, and generally a minimum of 12 sq. metres of unshaded north- facing roof is preferred, but systems with a mix of panels on both east- and west- facing roofs can be installed.
This is determined by your available amount of suitable roof space, your budget and power usage. A typical house uses about 8000 kW hours per year. A 2kW system will make nearly 3000 kW hours per year (approximately 40% of the annual energy usage required).
The bigger the system, the more electricity is made, the greater the ability to reduce your power bill.
It is advisable to paint it before the panels are installed as they have a 25 year service life. However, they can be unclipped to repaint the roof and then reinstalled. This would be at the cost of the home owner.
We advise that you shop around for the power retailer that will offer you the best deal, as incentives are constantly changing.
