WEL Networks is proud to support a number of community projects to help the community grow and prosper.
We also play a role helping the Waikato region become an even more vibrant and productive hub. Since 1993 the WEL Energy Trust has also invested nearly $60 million in community and energy efficiency grants.
These contributions have assisted thousands of clubs and individuals involved in sports, health, the arts, culture and education throughout the region.
Safety comes first at WEL Networks. That's why more than $40,000 has been invested to install defibrillators on our trucks and 75 of our frontline WEL staff have undergone specialist training in the use of defibrillators. This means they're capable of deploying the machines in an emergency.
The defibrillators are portable, versatile and easy to operate with automated ‘voice’ instructions to help the user through the operating process. Defibrillators can increase cardiac arrest survival chances by up to 40 per cent.
Other projects include a $700K grant to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Waikato division for its new state of the art helicopter, new lights for Waikato Stadium and an partnership with Waikato junior rugby programmes.
This year WEL Networks is distributing $20 million into the community through the WEL Networks discount.
