WEL Discount

As part of WEL’s commitment to the region’s growth, we’re constantly looking for ways to reduce the cost of electricity to the people and businesses of the Waikato. One of our major initiatives is the WEL Discount programme, which gives all WEL customer's in the Waikato Network area a share of our success via a discount, once a year.

Over the past 15 years WEL has distributed $293 million (incl GST) in savings to the people and businesses throughout Waikato.

What is the WEL Networks discount?

The discount is one of many ways we reinvest in the community and this year we’re paying a total of $20 million (including GST) to WEL Networks customers.

Who gets the WEL Networks discount?

All customers connected to WEL Networks at 5pm, 31 March 2017 receive the discount for each connection. The discount is based on the line charges incurred at your address over the previous 12 months.

What should I do if my discount isn't shown on my April or May power bill?

You can contact WEL Networks on 0800 800 935 or email customer@wel.co.nz.  All requests to review your account must be received no later than Friday 30 June, 2017.

How do I receive my discount?

Your WEL Networks discount will show as a credit on your April or May power account. It doesn’t matter which power retailer you purchase your electricity from. Sorry, we don’t exchange the credit for cash or cheque payments.

How much discount will I receive?

Your discount will depend on how much electricity you’ve used so it will probably vary between neighbours and addresses.

Who can provide more information about my discount?

Your discount should appear on your April or May power account. If you can’t see it, please check your most recent statements.
