What is a BESS?
A BESS is a Battery Energy Storage System.
It’s an electrochemical energy storage device, much like the battery found in your phone, just on a much larger scale.
A BESS is a useful modern technology due to its ability to form grids and store energy from solar systems. This means it can be used at times when the sun isn’t shining and to perform a number of load manipulation functions such as peak lopping.
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS's) are becoming a fundamental part of the electricity network and energy infrastructure globally.
BESS systems allow for increased penetration of intermittent renewable generation, which complements the global transition to zero carbon generation.
