Temporary & Permanent Disconnections

  • If you want to work near service lines - maybe paint around the connection point on the house, water blasting or trimming trees - we can disconnect your power for a short time so you can work safely.

    • Plan ahead. We need at least two working days to disconnect your supply.

    • Call us on 0800 800 935 with the address and preferably your ICP number (from your power account).

    • We need to know if there are any access issues, a contact name and number and an expected reconnection time and date.

  • To permanently disconnect your overhead service line or your underground service cable from our network, request this through your electricity retailer.

    Your retailer will notify us and we will disconnect the supply at the boundary and then WEL or your retailer will arrange for the meters and load control devices in your meter board to be removed.

    Your electrician will need to remove any remaining conductors or fittings on your property. If charges apply, you'll need to agree to paying the charges, prior to continuing.
